Nigerians have been advised to be calm and not panic over the reported case of Ebola Virus in Lagos State, with an assurance that no Nigerian is infected with the virus.

Addressing a joint Ministerial Press briefing of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health on development concerning the disease on Monday, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, affirmed that there had only been one case of imported Ebola resulting in the death of a Liberian diplomat in Lagos.

59 people including the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi Nnadozie are said to have had direct and indirect contact with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who died on Friday July 25th from the Ebola Virus in Lagos. 

At a Joint Ministerial Press briefing of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health on development concerning the disease yesterday July 28th, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr Jide Idris said out of the 59 people who had contact with the late Patrick Sawyer, 44 were hospital contacts (38 healthcare workers & 6 laboratory staff) and 15 Airport contacts comprising 3 ECOWAS staff-driver, Liaison, and Protocol officers, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five Airport passenger handlers.Continue...

Dr Idris explained that out of the number, 20 contacts had been physically screened of which 50% are of the type one contact and another 50% had type two contact, adding that the airline manifest has not been provided yet.

Boko Haram kidnaps wife of Cameroon's Vice Prime Minister

The wife of Cameroon's Vice Prime Minister, Amadou Ali, was kidnapped this morning July 27th after men of the Boko Haram sect stormed her home in the northern town of Kolofata, Cameroon's information minister and government spokesman revealed.

Mrs Ali was kidnapped alongside her domestic staff and one other person. The insurgents also killed 3 people in the attack on Kolofata, a town in Cameroon's Far North Region near Nigeria

Colonel Felix Nji Formekong, the second commander of Cameroon's third inter-army military region (RMIA3) based in the regional headquarters Maroua, said the sect members are believed to still be in the town fiercely engaging the military officers

Suicide "Bomber" Who Dress Like A Lady Arrested In Kaduna

Boko Haram agents are devising new tactics everyday to beat security and perpetrate their evil act. Men of the Nigerian Army has apprehended a suspected insurgent in relation with the twin bomb blast that rocked the city of Kaduna on Wednesday.

The twin-bomb attacks which led to the deaths of over 100 innocent citizens, targeted a former military Head of State, General Mohammadu Buhari and a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi.

A statement released on the website of the Nigerian military, defenceinfo.mil.ng, stated that a military patrol team arrested the man who was disguised as a woman immediately after the blast took place in the area. It was further revealed that the young man was arrested while trying to fizzle into a crowd of onlookers.
