Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe today celebrated his 91st birthday with a lavish bash that was attended by thousands of his party's faithfuls. Check out some of the photos from the party I just gathered from various Zimbabwean social media accounts.

Mugabe's party held at a luxury hotel in the famed Victoria Falls resort. Elephants were reportedly slaughtered for the feast, which held on the hotel’s golf course. Seven huge birthday cakes were on display and at a point during the party, assisted by his wife Grace, the Zimbabwean leader, who was surrounded by family members, threw 91 balloons into the air.

Critics lampooned the scale of the festivities, calling them “obscene” in a country where millions live in poverty. Mugabe, who has ruled Zimbabwe since independence from Britain in 1980, is the world’s oldest leader.

Exposed: Mbu, Other Officers mobilized to rig election in Lagos

According to Sahara Reporters, several Police and political sources have confirmed that Sam Chukwu, a sinister police officer reputed for masterminding a group of rogue policemen who carried out kidnapping, armed robbery and other major crimes in Enugu State, was recently promoted and deployed to Lagos in order to fortify a team of senior police officers charged with helping the PDP carry out massive rigging in Lagos and other southwest states.

The Police sources named Sam Chukwu, who is linked to a major kidnap and murder case in Enugu, as a key player in the scheme, whose leader is Assistant Inspector General of Police Joseph Mbu.

“Sam Chukwu is one of the biggest criminals in the police force. That is why Sir Mike Okiro gave him promotion and sent him to Lagos in January,” a top police source at police headquarters in Abuja told Sahara Reporters in a telephone interview.

Adamawa residents celebrate as troops sack Boko Haram

Residents of Gulak town, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, burst into wild celebration in Yola on Friday after they were informed that their homeland had been freed from the control of Boko Haram, which captured the town last year.

The residents had fled to Yola, the state capital, after the insurgents captured the town.

Some of the indigenes of Gulak, who had sought refuge in Yola, were seen at various drinking joints, dancing in celebration of the freedom of their homelands from the captivity of the dreaded sect.

Presidency Plans to Send Jega on Terminal Leave Next Week

The secret moves to remove Professor Attahiru Jega from INEC at all cost is not over after all. The leading opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the Senate has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the presidency to send the chairman of INEC on terminal leave next week.

South Korea’s Constitutional Court on Thursday struck down a controversial adultery law which for more than 60 years had criminalised extra-marital sex and jailed violators for up to two years.

The nine-member bench ruled by seven to two that the 1953 statute aimed at protecting traditional family values was unconstitutional.

An electrician, Chukwuka Onuorah, 33, who was contracted to install a DSTV decoder, in the home of a client, Mrs Gloria, 32, allegedly returned to the house the next day To Molest the 15-year old housemaid.

The incident occurred around 3pm on February 6, when Gloria who lived alone with the house help invited Onuorah over to her house to install the decoder. Onuorah did not finish the job that day and was told that he should come back only when Gloria was at home.

Lagos Gang War: 4 Killed, 27 Vehicles destroyed in Oshodi

Pandemonium broke out in Mosafejo, Oshodi-Isale area of Lagos State, after rival groups said to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, clashed on Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Four people were reportedly killed, while several others were injured in the fracas which was stopped after the intervention of anti-riot security personnel.

No fewer than 15 commercial buses were set on fire, while 12 others were vandalised.

Makeshift stalls in the Mosafejo Motor Park were also torched, leaving traders in the park mourning their losses.

When PUNCH visited the scene of the incident on Wednesday, the atmosphere was still tense as men of the Nigeria Police Force and some soldiers were observed patrolling the area.

18-year-old bride slaughters her nelwy wedded husband in Kano

A newlywed 18 years old lady, Rahma Hussaini, has slaughtered her newly wedded husband at Darmunawa quarters of the metropolis.

Vanguard reports that she committed the offence today in her matrimonial home after a quarrel with the groom also identified as Tijjani Basiru (24).

Isa Alhassan, a neighbour who witnessed the incident disclosed that the young couple got married last Friday, pointing out that “from what we heard the union was a product of forced marriage. Its a sad story for the family of Mr. Mudashiru Sheriffdeenwho welcomed a baby boy in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The wife, Taiwo, was on Tuesday delivered of a baby boy who had no arms. The baby boy weighed 3.25 kilogrammes at birth and was born around 2pm at a private hospital, Majotal Medical Clinic at the Ilogbo area of Ado/Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The mother of the baby told MetroPlus that immediately she gave birth to the baby boy, her husband took to his heels on hearing that the baby was born without arms.

Motorcyclist rapes two-year-old, assaults pregnant aunt

The police have arrested a 30-year-old motorcycle rider, Garuba Abdulraman, for allegedly defiling a two-year-old, Pat, (pseudonym) in the Somolu area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Abdulraman, an indigene of Niger State, also kicked the minor’s pregnant aunty, Alimat Muazu, when the later quizzed him on the child’s whereabouts.

The incident happened on Saturday on Ofor Street. A relative of the victim, who did not identify himself, said the family did a medical test on her and it was discovered that her hymen had been broken.

EXPOSED: AGF Adoke files Affidavits to stop INEC from using PVC for The Elections

According to Sahara Reporters, Affidavits filed by Nigeria’s Attorney General, Mohammed Bello Adoke that just leaked, has revealed a stealth and controversial attempt by President Goodluck Jonathan’s government to undermine the use of permanent voter cards (PVCs) in the forthcoming elections.

Judicial sources, who leaked the affidavits to SaharaReporters, said the documents show that Mr. Adoke is opposed to efforts by INEC to conduct free and fair elections using an updated electronic voters register and permanent voter cards.

At campaign stumps and interviews, President Jonathan has touted the adoption of PVCs as part of his legacy to ensure the empowerment of Nigerian voters, stating that the initiative would eliminate lapses in past elections. But affidavits filed by Mr. Adoke, a longtime confidante of Jonathan, reveal a surreptitious scheme to undermine the use of PVCs.

A college student has been charged with s*exually assaulting a woman in what prosecutors claim was a re-enactment of the movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

Police claim Mohammad Hossain tied up the 19-year-old, stripped her, and beat her until she was in tears, after she agreed to go back to his university dorm room on Saturday.

The woman told police she took off her clothes, except her underwear, at Hossain's direction, before he bound her hands and feet to a bed in his University of Illinois, Chicago,room.

Hossain, 19, was then said to have constrained her with several belts, before putting a cap over her eyes and stuffing a tie into her mouth.
