Seven Boko Haram Bombers Die in Explosive-laden Van

Seven suspected Boko Haram terrorists were on Monday killed when an Improvised Explosives Device hidden in a Toyota pick-up van exploded before it could get to Biu Market, suspected to be its destination.

A security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity with PUNCH on the telephone on Tuesday, said:

“A Toyota pick-up van, loaded with maize and beans with IED hidden under them, belonging to Boko Haram insurgents, exploded near Chikwarkir village of Biu, killing all the occupants of the van.”

Samson Egunje, 12, a primary 6 pupil has killed his 10-year old friend for allegedly abusing him.

Samuel Igbekele, 10, met his untimely death on Saturday when he was about eating that night before a neighbour sent him on an errand.

Samson who claimed Samuel insulted him in the morning, had been looking for him all day before he found him that night and stabbed him with a bottle on the neck. He was rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead on arrival.

This is the story of a fisherman, Edet Okon who had fled his ancestral home in Efut Obot Ikot in the ceded Bakassi Peninsula in March 2013 when Cameroonian gendermanes attacked the village in which a lot of indigenes lost their lives and scores sustained varying degrees of life-threatening injuries. This led Edet Okon and his family to a dusty village in Akwa Ikot Eyo Edem, Cross Rivers State where there story even went worse.
Shortly after they began living as a refugee there, Edet discovered his first daughter was down with blood cancer and he didn’t want her to juts die unattended too. So he decided to use his 12-year old daughter, Mary as collateral to borrow N600,000 from a man in calabar. The girl later died, and 19months after, he is yet to pay the said money, which has made Mary to be living in agony with her father’s creditor. 21-Year Old Boy Arrested For Stabbing Father To Death In Lagos

The Tifases' apartment The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 22-year-old Oluwaropo Tifase, for allegedly killing his father, Moses Tifase, in the Mile 2 area of the state. It was learnt that Oluwaropo, who is the fifth child and only son of the family, had had clashes with his parents in the past over financial issues.
According to the police, Oluwaropo, a suspected cultist, was rusticated from a university in Ondo State, a few years ago for some cult-related offences.It was gathered that 75-year-old Moses, a retired mechanical engineer, was stabbed to death in the neck with a pair of scissors.
The Tifases, who hail from Imesi Ile, Osun State, were living in an apartment in Block 285, Jakande Estate, Mile 2, Lagos.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ijede Police Station, Ikorodu, Nwaoha Uzoma has quietly died in his office on Christmas day. Uzoma who spent the night at work has been ill, but recovered few days ago according to junior officers before he was found dead in his office. No one knew the DPO had died, but when they noticed he didn’t come out of his office all day and wouldn’t pick his calls or reply text messages, they had to forcefully open the door, before they found his lifeless body on the floor.
Uzoma was formerly heading the Anthony Police Division, before he was posted to Ijede, early this month. His corpse has since been deposited at a private mortuary.

Group Wants Justice After Detained Mom Dies At LUTH Because She Couldn’t Offset Her Bills

A women right group have asked LUTH to pay the family of a 35-year old woman and a mother of four who died in their custody, after she was treated and was fit to go home but was detained because she couldn’t pay her almost N1.5m medical bills. Her husband, a printer had earlier looked for N300,000 which he paid to the management and begged that he will further balance the rest at a certain period of time, but the hospital allegedly turned deaf ears to him and detained his wife, until she died on the 43rdday.Now this women group wants the hospital to compensate her family and also wants LUTH to stop detaining women who can’t pay their hospital bills, saying it is not a crime.
