Ex-Gombe United and Lobi Stars’ Striker Sarki Audu is dead. He passed on this morning after being involved in an auto accident yesterday.
The striker was travelling with his wife and daughter in his car to Bauchi from his home town in Yobe when the accident occurred.
Audu, who is fondly called Master of important Goals by his teammates had just been elevated to the rank of a corporal in the Nigeria Police. May his soul rest in perfect peace. -

Football player arrested for killing his girlfriend after finding out she was transgender

21 year old popular Texas college football player Carlton Ray Champion Jr. (left) has been charged with the murder of 24yr old transgender woman, Ty Underwood ()right, who was killed on Jan. 26th

Police first caught a break in the case when Ty's roommate, Kedrick Darks, told police Underwood had been dating a man named “Carlton” for several weeks prior to her death. Police say they interviewed Champion, who confirmed that he had been communicating via a service called “Kik” with Underwood, who was going by “Tyra” on the service. They were able to search Champion’s tablet computer and allegedly discovered communications between Champion and Underwood dating back to January 19, 2015.

The discovery of twisted pieces of aircraft fuselage high in the Chilean Andes has apparently ended a 54-year aviation and sporting mystery. Mountaineers say that they have found the wreckage of a plane that crashed more than half a century ago, killing 24 people, including eight members of the Green Cross soccer team from Chile’s top division.

The tragedy occurred 11 years before members of a Uruguayan rugby team travelling to a game were famously left stranded for more than two months after their plane crashed in Argentina’s high Andes.

Tunisia risk being expelled from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after refusing to apologise to CAF for their behaviour against Equatorial Guinea.

The Tunisians were aggrieved with a last-minute penalty decision by Mauritian referee Rajindraparsad Seechurn and reportedly vandalised items in their changeroom following the match, which the host nation went on to win 2-1 in extra time.

Tunisia were fined $50 000 and Seechurn was sent home from Equatorial Guinea and delisted from the CAF ‘A’ Elite Referees panel for six months.

Former Nigerian goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare has died

Former Nigerian International goalkeeper, Wilfred Agbonavbare has reportedly lost his battle with cancer. The ex-Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper who had been receiving treatment at a Spanish hospital was said to have died yesterday January 26th.

Agbonavbare, who was a member of Nigeria’s U-21 Mexico 1983 Flying Eagles, lost his wife three years ago to breast cancer. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Super Eagles star, and Chelsea mid-fielder, John Obi Mikel is a happy man at the moment. Mikel who applied for his British passport last year has finally gotten it.

Mikel became eligible for citizenship, having spent more than eight years in England following his transfer to Chelsea from Lyn Oslo of Norway in 2006.We say big congrats to him.

Belgian footballer Junior Malanda dies in car crash, aged 20

Belgian Under-21 midfielder Bernard Malanda-Adje, nicknamed Junior Malanda, died yesterday Jan. 10th in a car crash in Germany. The VfL Wolfsburg footballer died when a car he was traveling in as a passenger crashed on a motorway near the German city of Bielefeld. He was on his way to the airport to meet up with his team-mates to fly out to South Africa for a training camp. He was just 20.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said in a statement:

"We are all deeply saddened and our disbelief can hardly be put into words. We can't believe he is no longer with us. Our thoughts at this difficult time are with his family and loved ones. He was the good spirit of our team and a fun-loving person. In addition, Junior was an excellent football player who was only at the very beginning of his development."

Junior Malanda made 15 appearances for the German Bundesliga side this season. His last game was a 2-1 win over Cologne on 20 December. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

Ex- Enyimba player, Romanus Orjinta who once played and won CAF Champions League for Enyimba in 2003 is dead. Romanus was found dead on New Year’s eve at his home in Enugu by neigbours who noticed he had been missing.
Orjinta, 33, has since retired from playing to be a coach, before his untimely death. No information surrounding his death has been announced.
