PDP alleges that Buhari’s Certificate was forged

PDP’s Presidential campaign organization, yesterday alleged that the certificate presented by the secondary school of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gen Muhammadu Buhari, was forged.

The PDP campaign team therefore asked the security agencies to investigate the matter and fish out the authors of the purportedly forged certificate.

This is in spite of the declaration by former president of the Court of Appeal (PCA), Justice Umaru Abdullahi and former inspector-general of police, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, that Gen Buhari was their classmate in 1961.

Buhari’s secondary school, Government College, Katsina, formerly known as Provisional Secondary School, had on Wednesday, released his result sheet and school copy, in a bid to put to rest claims by the PDP that he does not have a certificate.

Gen Buhari had while addressing a press conference in Kano requested his secondary school to make available the school copy of the result of the Cambridge West African Schools Certificate.

But speaking yesterday on the issue, the director of media and publicity of the PDP, Presidential campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said the result sheets which was attributed to Cambridge examination body was a super imposition.

Fani-Kayode further said as much as he respects the declarations of justice Abdullahi and the former IG of police on the matter, their positions does not shed any light that Buhari has a certificate.

But when asked if he had contacted the school principal to ascertain the authenticity of the certificate, Fani-Kayode said “it is not for us to go to the school, we have made our assertion. The school itself have said they issued the certificate, do you believe that?” he asked.

See Excerpts detailed:

“The results sheet which was attributed to the Cambridge examination body is clearly a super imposition of one document on another as you will shortly see in the enlarged image of the result sheet as published. The column lines on the part where names are printed do not align with the blank columns while there is an introduction of extraneous lines on some other columns.

“The document contains an obvious alteration on the Mathematics column of the candidate, Mohamed Buhari, who was assumed to have scored an “F” in the subject. This raises a very fundamental issue of validity in view of the fact that the accompanying result sheet states that “any alteration or erasure renders this statement of Results invalid.”

“This is the standard practice in all interpretation of documents especially academic records. The question we put to Gen Buhari and his party is whether this alteration was done by the University of Cambridge?”
