Touching Story Of A 24 Year Old Boy Who Rides Okada To Raise His School Fees Yet He Got Dismissed For Late Payment

Contending with poverty, Adegboye Oluwadare Adebare, 24, an indigene of Modakeke, Ife-East Local Government Area of Osun State, rides an Okada (commercial motorbike) to make a living. He also hopes to pay his way through the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State.

He is supposed to be in part three in the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, but he is currently battling for reinstatement, having fallen a year behind be­cause he could not pay his fees on time at the 200 level. He told Daily Sun that he asked for withdrawal for a semester, because he could not pay the school fees.

Unfortunately, he has not only lost a whole session, but has now been asked by the school authority to withdraw for failing to pay school fees for that session. In the letter by the school’s Faculty Officer, Humanities and Social Sciences, the school said his inability to complete the 200 level and his failure to pay up the school fees, violated the school’s regula­tions and therefore nullified his studentship:

President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience attended the mass funeral service for the Bayelsa female politicians who lost their lives after a ghastly accident on East-West Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The accident on 14 February claimed 11 people.

Among them were Mrs Elizabeth Allison Oguru, wife of Bayelsa State Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Gimbra Pamowei; Mrs Ruby Benjamin, Mrs Consider Nayam Amadi, Madam Elizabeth Nisakpo, Mrs Ayakpo Franca Otolo, Mrs Acha Pere-Kalama, Mrs Lydia Clara Abila.
The driver of the women, Kelechi Onyekwuru also died. The women buried today, were all burnt beyond recognition.

Their funeral service held at the Gabriel Iworiso-Markson Cultural Centre, Yenagoa. May their souls rest in perfect peace. See more pics after the cut.

Soldiers Invade Secondary School in Minna after Female Student was Punished

Pandemonium broke lose as some men of the Nigeria Army from the 31 Artillery Brigade on Tuesday invaded the Hill Top Model Secondary School, Minna, the Niger State capital.

The army officer and his subordinates invaded the school few hours after the students’ daily assembly, holding teachers and students hostage. They disrupted academic activities for the whole day. They whisked away a student believed to be an officer’s girlfriend.

It was gathered that the officers and men who stormed the school premises were armed with AK 47
riffles. They arrived in a Mitsubishi Hilux pickup, with registration number: 31 AB 035 NA.

US missionary worker kidnapped in Kogi state

A US missionary worker has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Kogi state. According to the spokesperson of the Kogi state Police command, Mr Sola Colins, the kidnapped woman who's an American citizen was kidnapped inside her school premises at about 10am yesterday February 23rd.

"She was whisked away at around 10:00 am (0900 GMT) Monday. The kidnappers were "unknown gunmen...(who) came into the school premises shooting sporadically to scare away people before taking (the hostage) away into the bush" he said.

The cordon and search in Baga has revealed some terrorists disguising as women. The searches are also yielding more discoveries of arms especially bombs hidden in various locations, especially Baga town. Apart from those captured in the course of fighting, many arrests of terrorists hiding in the town are being made and troops are still busy interrogating the suspects.

Meanwhile, in furtherance of the mission to clear terrorists from all their enclaves by the military, the Nigerian Air Force has stepped up its air bombardment of identified targets in Gwoza, Bama and Sambisa forest, preparatory to other phases of the mission. The air strikes have been highly successful as they achieved the aims, hitting vital targets with required precision. 

Terrorists are now in disarray as they scamper to escape from the impact of air bombardment of their locations in the forest.

"PDP Is about to create a fake Bokoharam leader Shekau" - APC

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, has warned of an ongoing plot by the Federal Government to create a fake Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

The party says the government intends to use the fake Shekau to create in the minds of Nigerians and the world, the perception that it is winning the war on terrorism.

It said credible sources had informed the APC that the fake Shekau may be used to blackmail members of the opposition “by coaching the phantom terror chief” to confess to being in league with the opposition party’s candidate, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
