BUSTED: WAEC Nabs Website Owner Who Does 'WAEC RUNS'

The West African Examinations Council on
Wednesday paraded one Master Abiodun Raheem
for rogue website. The website is used to send
solutions to candidates writing the ongoing May/
June examination.

Speaking with journalists at WAEC headquarters in
Yaba, the Director of Administrator, Mr. Steven
Taiwo, told newsmen that the 20-year-old boy was
arrested on Tuesday in Badagry while trying to
withdraw the money paid into his account by
candidates. According to him, the council wanted
the public to know what was going on and to be
aware of such websites. “They are not WAEC
website; it is fake and it can get them into trouble.”

“We got information that some people smuggled
out WAEC examination questions 10 minutes before
the exam commenced and sent answers to the
website for students to copy.” Head of School
Examination Department, Mr. Olajide Adebayo, told
journalists that one of their staff had been following
the website and the fraudsters since February this
year.

Raheem, while interacting with newsmen said, he
was offered admission into the Osun State
Polytechnic, Iree, to study computer sciences.
“A friend, named Sola, introduced me to the
examination malpractices. “I received N4, 000 per
candidate and they pay into my account after my
friend would have sent the exam solutions to the
candidates. I did this because of my sister, Ajarat,
who is also writing the ongoing May/June exam.”

He
pleaded with the council to release him, promising
not to involve in such bad act again.
